iPad App Development – Are You Joining the Fray?

Submitted by on May 3, 2010 – 1:26 pmNo Comment

So you want to be an iPad app developer? I don’t blame you, there are plenty of opportunities to be had for an aspiring application developer. What with the App Store featuring no less than 5,000 apps that were created and optimized specifically for Apple’s latest and best selling device, we think there is a rush to develop iPad apps.

Have you heard the news about one million iPads being sold in the first 30 days since its launch? Each week, approximately 300,000 iPads flew off the shelves. Eager users have so far downloaded close to 12 million apps and 1.5 million e-Books. These statistics show that interestingly, the iPad is even more popular compared to the iPhone when it was first released, outdoing the sister device in sales.

We’ve compiled some interesting points as to why the craze to develop more iPad apps is catching on. Read on and let us know if you are going to be a future iPad app developer!

1. More than a million iPads have gone home to new owners
This figure is rising day after day. Just turn to the iPhone for inspiration. Imagine, years after the first iPhone was released to the public, the App Store just grew and grew. And now there are close to 200,000 apps: makes you think just how big the demand for an app developer doesn’t it? Now, think about the future of the App Store with its cornucopia of iPad apps. Won’t you want a slice of the iPad app pie?

2. Over 12 million apps downloaded thus far
iPad users clearly want to optimize their devices. What better way than to download and use apps that will ensure a more enriching user experience?

3. iPad features winning over users and developers
Who won’t want to experiment with apps when you’ve got a spanking new 9.7 inch screen to work with? Think about the games and various other apps you can develop – apps that your customers-to-be will love to download!

4. iPad apps are higher in price
High price equals to more profits? With so many apps being downloaded since its launch, developers know that the App Store is where the money’s at.

5. iAd: a new frontier in mobile advertising
Steve Jobs certainly shocked us all when he revealed that Apple’s new iAd mobile advertising solution will cost marketers at least ONE MILLION DOLLARS. However, developers may want to think of this as good news because iAd may help them create more affordable apps for users. Apple iAd may also increase an app developer’s profits when they gain from the ad revenue themselves.
